Crystal Lake Rules and Regulations Public swimming and wading are allowed only from the Crystal Lake Park facility to ensure safe, healthy conditions and respect for the serenity of the Lake setting for the many citizens who seek quiet, peaceful, passive, recreation at the Coves. Residents of lakefront properties may swim and boat from their properties, subject to city regulations. For comprehensive details of Crystal Lake swimming rules visit the Newton Parks and Recreation Crystal Lake website.- Public boat unloading, launching and loading are allowed only at the designated area at Cronin Cove. - Dog owners must carry implements for removing feces and dogs must be on leashes at all times.
- Public ice skating has not been possible at Crystal Lake in decades due to an increase in the ice density requirement and city funding constraints. Public ice skating is quite popular at the Newton Parks and Recreation Charles River facility and the MDC Nonantum Rink.
- There is no trespassing in the Coves or the Park after dark.
- All violations of the after dark, swimming, boating, dog and parking regulations are subject to fines or arrest (See postings around the Lake and Web: Crystal Lake Rules and Regulations for details). The number to report violations is 617-796-2100.
